Dead pixel Policy

note: details of allowable visible defects are provided here for convenience; definitions may be revised at any time by the respective manufacturers.

For Acer Class II LCD panels:

The Table shows the allowable number of malfunctioning sub-pixels that are acceptable, depending on the native resolution of the LCD and allowing for 5 malfunctioning sub-pixels per million pixels.  Class 1 is for Military, hospital and other critical applications.  Customers desiring 100% defect-free Notebooks or LCD monitors can avail the same at additional charge from ACER.

Bright sub-pixel defined

  • A red, blue, and green pixel that is always lit on a black background of an LCD screen is deemed a bright sub-pixel.
  • A pixel that is always dark or colored on a white background of an LCD screen is deemed a dark pixel. Dark sub-pixels are not covered by this policy.

Usage conditions

  • Ambient illuminance is more than 500 lux (typical office environment)
  • Viewing distance is more than 35 cm

For dots always on or off:

  • 720p, HD, SD, SD+, SVGA, VGA, WSVGA, WXGA, and XGA Panels, <1.05M pixels
    • 6 or more dots in any combination and any color that are always on or off
    • Any 2 dots within 25mm of each other that are always on
    • Any 2 dots within 15mm of each other that are always off
  • HD+, SXGA+ and WXGA+ Panels, <1.6M pixels

For Philips:

Philips will offer a one to one replacement of panel under the following conditions:

  • 7 or more “Bright Full Pixel” or “Dead Full Pixel” are found on the LCD or Plasma panel based on at least 1 meter viewing distance.
  • Valid on or within 14 days from the date of purchase.

 

For Samsung:

TFT-LCD/LED/PDP & Monitors

The dead pixel warranty applies when your TFT-LCD/LED/PDP & Monitors contains more than 7 dead pixels within the standard warranty period of your TFT-LCD Monitor which SAMSUNG will exchange the LCD panel/module, provided that the defective unit is returned to SAMSUNG complete with full accessories and original packaging.

Zero Bright Defect (ZBD) only applies when it occurs within 7 working days from purchased date, regardless of dot quantity, the defective LCD panel/module shall be replace by SAMSUNG.

Bright Dot Defect occurs when pixels are always lit or "ON". Black Dot Defect occurs when pixels are always dark or "OFF".
